Remember when Sacha Cohen as Borat had the fat guy’s balls in his face?
While some may consider that the gayest thing they’ve ever seen - and others merely call it a lucky Friday night - it was NOTHING compared to what the new Bruno movie had in store for us breeders. [Editor's Note- Although da Dominus has no children there is no reason to believe he will not breed in the future. Our apologies.]
To say that this movie appeals to homophobes is a wrong. If you’re afraid of gay images, you won’t even see the movie - like xenophobes probably couldn’t watch Borat, although many did to have their prejudices affirmed. An ignorant Kazakstanian in a suit though doesn’t cross sexual taboo territory like an erect Austrian in a thong.
Public displays of public hair. Champagne bottles in buttholes. Full frontal male … animation. Attempts to seduce Republican senator Ron Paul (mistaken for Rupaul). Bruno crosses more boundaries than global circum-navigator Ferdinand Magellan, another famous gay (unverified).
Cohen as been credited with being a comedic genius for the subtle insight of his mockumentaries. Borat wasn’t just a backwards a foreigner, but also an outsider that revealed some of America’s own primitivity. His ignorance of US culture mirrorerd the US’s cultural naivete. He got cheers when he spoke in support of President Bush’s “reign of terror” and sing’alongs with Throw the Jew down the Well.
He aims to do the same with Bruno, but this time his target is the vacuous pursuit of shallow celebrity. What would you do to get your baby in an upscale photo shoot?
Phospherous grenades splash the uber-flammable chemical onto the skin, which burns even when fully submerged in water. Babies … should … not … be near it. If it’s your window into years of future exploitation, however, it’s worth the risk.
Much of the commentary on fame seeking is mired by shock value. Attempting to become straight, Bruno visits a swingers group. If not for a few censorship black boxes it would be rated X. This distracts from the social experiment for the sake of humor in a less balanced way than his previous character study until the last third of movie where he explores hetereo views of homos when trying to become straight.
Still, VERY NICE! Funny, but not ass focused … as focused … it was pretty ass-focused.
