Movie news is pretty slow with the major summer blockbusters being released already, so I address this extremely minor event that is relevant only in that search engines will come here because I mention it and as an example of faux scandal.
Sasha Baron Cohen (Borat, The Ali G Show) as his Euro gay character Bruno “crashed” 69-style into Eminem’s lap during the MTV Movie Awards. Wearing a jock strap beneath his angel costume, his ass planted squarely in front of the supposedly homophobic rapper’s chin until his entourage “roughly” dislodged the contraversial comedian.
Was this a stunt? Hell yes! Cohen’s Bruno movie is coming out and Mathers has a new ablum to promote. Further, you know it’s fake because Slim Shady sat down all the while Bruno was carefully lowered towards him and the comic didn’t have his ass beat upon landing. No concern was shown, no techs or security rushing to the scene. The biggest news is that the rapper could actually be a good sport about such a gag - which is itself false since half his singles are comedic in nature.
As part of the True function of the festivities, Twilight took home five golden popcorn trophies - the real outrage of the night. I haven’t seen the whole movie, to be honest, my immune system reacted to its psychological assault on my reason with sleep. From what I did see the makers could’ve replaced the word “vampire” with “fairy” and made a decent supernatural teen romance (hands on boob over the bra) and better appealed to their target audience.
The main movie judging critieria obviously being the one that got you a handjob in the theatre, given that it beat out The Dark Knight and Iron Man. The evident silver lining, young men have enough sense not to be involved in MTV audience anymore - they’ve got Spike TV now. High School Musical 3 was evidently too much of a chick flick and Twilight had just enough action to make it “thrilling” instead of femme - “closet gay with a foot in pumps sticking out” being the most accurate descriptor I can use.
Nickelodean kid’s channel, Nick Teen and MTV are all owned by the same megacorp but the age-discrimanatory line blurs. Infancy stretches from 12 months to 22 years apparently for young “women”.
