You avid Youtubers already know, but while we’ve been deciding whether to have a Christian or Gay American Idol, the UK’s version - Britain’s Got Talent - is dealing with a far more complex musical decision: can this golden-voiced man-bear-pig actually become their idol?
Vocal talent sadly isn’t enough to be a singing star; this is the painful Truth. Fat? You can be fat as the day is long, especially if you sing opera, blues or whatever you call Jessica Simpson’s music. Jill Scott can bellow that beautiful voice until her belly quakes, sell records and still look good doin’ it. Adele can keep chasing pavements, at a waddling pace … with frequent rests. “But, she has a pretty face” is more than enough, especially when you’ve got strong talent like those mentioned above or if you’ve got Jessica Simpson size titties. Sex will sell a record. Ugly, like real U-G-L-Y ain’t got no alibi caliber uglitude (anti-Viagra), can not be tolerated - no many how many average beauty campaigns you run.
Susan Boyle’s a big viral success on Youtube though, several hundred million views worth, which is going in her favor. And being British, she’s not that bad looking compared to other UK popstars.
Thing is Amy’s body is beginning to match the tone of her music, making her the ultimate artist … tragically. Also, they’re a more evolved people right? How important is physical attractiveness when half the men are gay - sexually or emotionally. Boyle is an under-dog, whom we can relate to far better than the legion of pretty bitches all over the media. It’s like your aunt has a chance a celebrity, or your old high school teacher, maybe even comparable to your wife (hope she can cook while giving blowjobs).
Looks do matter and have her whole life, hence why her cat has been her main audience so far. I wonder if she has the confidence to take the pressure involved though. Recent reports say she cursed out a couple of reporters in a hotel lobby. She better have tougher skin than this, especially if her success brings her to these superficial shores where we know how to treat the famous:
