Decree XII - Dave THE Dungeon Master

“The Unsung Legend” of Role-playing Games, Dave Arneson’s Blackmoor version of the military strategy game Chainmail inspired the first edition of Dungeons & Dragon. Using stats such as Armor class and Hit points, individual player-controlled characters explored dungeons where they did combat with fantastic monsters from mythology. Sound familiar?
Although not the main face of the gaming flagship that Gary Gygax is, he continued writing and designing games his entire life - even teaching role-playing as an instructional tool at the college level. His homebrewed game that inspired D&D was the longest continually played campaign setting. Until his death at 61 April 7th, Dave was the most senior RPG gamemaster, running since before many of us were born.
We elevate Grand Master Dungeon Master Arneson to da Dominion Geek Pantheon, where he crits on natural 5 and does double damage to the loins of those that don’t recognise his excellance.
